Berseem Fodder
Trifolium alexandrinum
Also known as: Egyptian clover, berseem clover

About Berseem Fodder
An annual leguminous, multi cut forage crop with high protein value and palatability.
Nutritional value and use in livestock rations
Berseem Fodder is a roughage (forage) and a protein source in the Pakistan Feed Library. On average berseem fodder contains crude protein 23.5% of dry matter, metabolisable energy 2.3 Mcal/kg, TDN 63.4% of dry matter, NDF 44.1% of dry matter.
Protein-rich forages help lift the crude-protein level of a ration while also supplying the fibre the rumen needs. They are usually combined with energy feeds and minerals, and the ration is balanced for the production stage of the animals.
Nutrient values vary with variety, growing conditions, processing and storage, so treat the averages as a guide. Send us your ration details if you would like advice on using it in a TMR.

SD = standard deviation DM = dry matter. Nutrients other than dry matter are expressed on a dry-matter basis. TDN = total digestible nutrients; ME, NEm, NEg, NEl and DE = metabolisable, net (maintenance / gain / lactation) and digestible energy.
